The Apple Pan Review: Highlights
- The atmosphere: The U shaped counter and open grill are central to the experience. There are 26 counter seats, so diners can watch the burgers being prepared while waiting for a place.
- The queue: The small room fills quickly and a wait is possible. The line moves as counter seats become available. Going outside the busiest lunch and dinner periods offers the best chance of sitting sooner.
- The burgers: The current menu lists the Steakburger and Hickoryburger at $10.25 before additions. The Steakburger uses the house sauce, mayonnaise, pickles and lettuce. The Hickoryburger replaces that flavour profile with a smokier house sauce. During our visit, the straightforward Steakburger and fries delivered the classic counter experience.
- The pies: Pie remains as important as the burgers. The current menu includes apple, pecan and several cream pies. Slices are listed at $7.75, while a whole pie is $39. Our banana cream pie was sweet, generous and covered with whipped cream.
