La Bastide de Mougins offers a calm alternative to staying on the busy Cannes waterfront. This four star Tribute Portfolio hotel sits among mature trees and Mediterranean gardens, within easy driving distance of Cannes and Mougins Village.
We stayed in one of the hotel’s bright rooms and spent plenty of time around the pool and garden. The setting felt intimate, relaxed and distinctly Provençal. A private terrace, comfortable room and peaceful outdoor areas made the stay easy to enjoy.

Arrival and First Impressions
The hotel feels more like a small Provençal estate than a conventional chain property. Low buildings sit around the garden, while stone details, terracotta floors and tall cypress trees give the grounds a strong sense of place.
Reception is light and informal. A central display table, colourful accessories and large windows make the space feel welcoming rather than corporate. That independent character is a good match for the Tribute Portfolio brand.
The garden became the centre of our stay. We enjoyed drinks near the bar and spent hours around the pool. Even with Cannes close by, the atmosphere remained quiet and removed from the coast’s busier streets.
Our Room
Our room used a calm palette of cream, soft green and natural wood. The double bed was framed by local artwork and simple wall panelling. A desk, television and compact refreshment area provided the practical essentials without making the room feel crowded.
The private terrace was the best feature. A small table and two chairs looked across olive trees towards the pool and gardens. It gave us a peaceful outdoor space for a drink or a quiet start to the day.
An espresso machine, kettle, cups and glasses were provided. The wardrobe also held an electronic safe, shelves, slippers and a luggage rack. These details made the room practical for more than a quick overnight stay.
Room Walkthrough Video
Our video below shows the room layout, bathroom, amenities and private terrace exactly as we experienced them.
The Bathroom and Amenities
The bathroom felt fresh and contemporary. It included a walk in shower, an illuminated round mirror and useful space around the basin. The layout was simple, bright and easy to use.
Terre de Mars products were supplied in refillable dispensers. Hand wash and lotion sat beside the basin, while shampoo, conditioner and body wash were mounted in the shower. The presentation suited the hotel’s natural, understated style.
The Pool and Gardens
The outdoor pool is one of the strongest reasons to stay here. It sits in a sheltered garden with loungers, parasols and tall trees around the water. The surrounding buildings keep the setting intimate.
We found the pool area especially appealing during the quieter parts of the day. It works well for guests who want to relax at the hotel rather than spend every hour sightseeing.
The Pool House adds a casual food and drink option during its operating season. Marriott currently describes it as seasonal, so opening dates should be confirmed before a stay outside summer.
Dining and Drinks
The hotel currently lists three venues. La Table de la Bastide serves Mediterranean food for dinner. Le Pool de la Bastide provides seasonal French dining beside the pool, while Le Bar de la Bastide focuses on drinks in the bright lounge.
We enjoyed the bar and photographed the dinner menu during our visit. At that time, starters ranged from €15 to €21. Main courses ran from €32 to €46, while desserts cost €13 to €15. These prices are a useful guide, but dishes and rates can change.
Breakfast is available for a fee in several formats, including buffet and continental options. Room service is also offered. Check the current inclusions when booking, as breakfast may be bundled into some rates but not others.
Fitness and Activities
The fitness room is compact but covers the basics. It contains treadmills, exercise bikes, dumbbells, medicine balls and a multistation strength machine. Large windows bring in natural light.
An outdoor tennis court provides another option for active guests. Golfers also have several courses nearby, while Valmasque Park is useful for walking and time outdoors.

Location and Getting Around
La Bastide de Mougins sits between Mougins and Cannes. The location suits travellers with a car, especially those planning to explore villages, beaches and restaurants across the Riviera.
Complimentary parking removes one common Côte d’Azur expense. Electric vehicle charging is also available, subject to availability. Nice Airport is approximately 23.1 km away, but the hotel does not provide a shuttle.

Value
Rates vary sharply by season on the French Riviera. The strongest value comes from the complete package: a peaceful setting, pool, tennis court, fitness room and complimentary parking. Those facilities can justify choosing Mougins over a similarly priced room in central Cannes.
Dining is positioned at hotel prices, so the total cost can rise quickly. Guests who use the pool, gardens and private outdoor space will get the most from the stay.
