Hotel Bel Air Review: Highlights
- A secluded setting: Dorchester Collection manages the hotel. Mature trees, gardens, fountains and the swan lake create a sense of separation from the rest of Los Angeles.
- Scale and service: There are 103 rooms and suites. The low rise layout spreads them across the estate, so the property feels intimate despite its size. During our stay, service was attentive and personal.
- The room: Our room combined soft Egyptian cotton sheets with a marble bathroom and rainfall shower. Technology was integrated throughout, including a television above the bath and a bedside tablet for lights, temperature and hotel services. - Dining: The main venue is now called The Restaurant at Hotel Bel Air. Its current menu draws on modern Californian and Mediterranean influences. Our visit took place when the dining room carried Wolfgang Puck branding, so the French toast photograph below reflects that earlier period.
- More places to relax: The Bar retains its club like feel, while The Living Room and Patisserie add options for light refreshments. Hours and live music schedules should be checked directly.
- The grounds: The 12 acre estate remains one of the hotel’s defining features. Paths pass mature planting, fountains and the lake, making the walk between rooms and public areas part of the experience.
