Location and Arrival
The hotel sits on Sheikh Rashid Road, between older neighbourhoods and central Dubai. A car or taxi is useful because there is little to explore immediately outside the property.
Self parking is available in the basement. Check in during the visit was quick and straightforward. The lobby had the relaxed and playful character associated with Aloft, with casual seating and social areas.
The One Bedroom Suite
The suite provided a separate living room, dining table, bedroom and a larger bathroom. Its colourful textiles gave the familiar Aloft design a local accent.
The bed was comfortable and the work desk faced the city view. Internet was fast during the stay. The television could also connect to a personal device for streaming.
Two bathrooms made the layout useful for a longer stay. The main bathroom had twin basins, a bathtub and a walk in rainfall shower. A second guest bathroom sat beside the living room.
Breakfast and Dining
Breakfast during the visit was served as a full buffet at Mix. It included fruit, yoghurt, cereal, cold items, bread, pastries, hot dishes and eggs cooked to order. The fresh salad dressings were a particular highlight.
Marriott now lists breakfast at Mix and Re:Fuel for a fee. Mix is open daily from 6.30am to 11pm. Re:Fuel is the 24 hour pantry.
High Note Pool and Sky Lounge serves food and drinks beside the rooftop area. Walnut Sports Bar opens in the afternoon and evening. Hours can change, so check the official dining page before visiting.
Rooftop Pool and Fitness Centre
The rooftop infinity pool was the most memorable shared facility. It offered broad views towards the Dubai skyline, Port Rashid and the large Union House flag. Massage jets were built into one side of the pool.
The complimentary fitness centre has cardio and strength equipment. It is suitable for a regular hotel workout. Pool and gym arrangements may be shared with the adjoining Element property.
