Updated September 2026
Platinum Heritage offers one of Dubai’s most distinctive desert experiences. The Heritage Desert Safari combines a nature drive in a vintage Land Rover with falconry, Emirati food and an evening at a traditional camp.
One important correction comes first. These are vintage Land Rovers, not Range Rovers. The classic vehicles are central to the experience and give the safari much more character than a standard modern four wheel drive tour.

The Journey Into the Desert
Our experience began with collection in a modern Toyota Land Cruiser. The drive from Dubai took around 45 minutes before we reached the conservation reserve and changed vehicles.
A fleet of open vintage Land Rovers waited in the sand. They looked superb together and created one of the best photo moments of the day.

The Vintage Land Rover Nature Drive
The open vehicles make this feel different from a typical desert safari. There are no city buildings in view, only sand and the protected landscape around the convoy.
During our tour, the line of classic vehicles added real atmosphere. The ride felt adventurous without relying on aggressive dune driving.

The current itinerary includes a 60 minute nature safari with a conservation guide. It also includes a sunset falconry display. Wildlife sightings depend on the day and should never be guaranteed.
The Bedouin Camp Experience
As evening approached, we reached the desert camp. The torchlit setting felt far removed from the city and gave the second half of the tour a slower pace.

Activities during our visit included a camel ride, henna and an astronomy element. Platinum Heritage now lists live bread making, coffee making, camel rides, henna and Emirati performances. The exact sequence can change by season.
Dinner was served outdoors under the night sky. The present experience includes a four course traditional meal with shared starters, main dishes and dessert. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets can be accommodated when arranged in advance.

Is Platinum Heritage Worth the Price?
This is a premium safari, and the current starting price reflects that. Less expensive desert tours are easy to find in Dubai. However, the vintage vehicles, protected reserve and cultural focus give this experience a clear identity.
The tour is best for first time visitors, families and residents who want a polished desert evening. It also suits travellers who prefer a nature drive and cultural program over fast dune driving.
For a different side of the landscape, our guide to hiking in the UAE covers trails, wadis and mountain routes. If you need a resort base before the tour, see our Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah review. Our Dubai restaurant guide can help plan the rest of the trip.

The Brief Review Verdict
The vintage Land Rover convoy was the highlight of our experience. It turned the drive into something memorable before we even reached the camp.
Dinner under the stars and the evening activities completed a polished tour. The price is higher than a basic safari, but the conservation setting and thoughtful program help justify it.
Our verdict: One of the strongest premium desert safari options in Dubai for travellers who value atmosphere, culture and a well organised experience.
