Riviera Marriott Monaco Video Tour

The video below shows the room and hotel as experienced during the original visit.

Location and Transport

The hotel overlooks Port de Cap d’Ail, beside the western edge of Monaco. It is a practical base for Fontvieille, the marina and the coastal path. Central Monte Carlo is farther away, so guests should allow time for the hills and distance.

A complimentary shuttle to Monaco is available on request. It is useful, but timings and destinations can change. Confirm the schedule with reception before making plans.

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is about 25 kilometres away. The hotel does not advertise an airport shuttle. On site parking costs €1.50 per hour or €25 per day, subject to availability. Electric vehicle charging is available.

The Stay Experience

Rooms and Marina Views

The original room had a comfortable bed, a work area and a private balcony overlooking the marina. The balcony was the standout feature. It created a useful outdoor space and framed the boats, sea and neighbouring coastline.

The room also included a coffee machine, kettle, storage, robes and slippers. The bathroom had a spacious accessible shower, a broad vanity and wall mounted toiletries. The photographs below document that specific stay. Marriott now promotes recently renovated rooms and suites, so current interiors may differ.

Pool, Fitness and Beach Access

The seasonal outdoor pool overlooks the marina. During the visit, large floating bean bags made it a relaxed place to spend an afternoon. Marriott currently lists the pool season from early April to early November, although weather and maintenance can affect opening dates.

A modern fitness centre is available. The hotel is beside the coast, but it does not have a private beach. A public stone beach and two beach restaurants are a short walk away. The hotel is also well placed for the scenic Cap d’Ail coastal path.

Dining and Breakfast

Bolinas is the hotel’s main restaurant and poolside bar. It serves breakfast and French influenced all day dishes. Breakfast is currently listed from 7 am to 11 am.

A significant change begins on 24 October 2026. Bolinas is scheduled to close for renovation, with an Autumn and Winter Chalet pop up operating in the Monte Carlo Ballroom. Marriott says the space will reopen in January 2027 as Monte Mozza Lounge Bar & Restaurant. Check the current dining page before visiting.

What Stood Out

  • Marina setting: The balcony view was the clearest reason to choose this hotel.
  • Easy access to Monaco: The location works well for Fontvieille and major Monaco events.
  • Seasonal pool: The pool provides a calm alternative to the busy public beach.
  • Coastal walking: Guests can reach the Cap d’Ail path without a long transfer.
  • Useful room setup: Storage, coffee facilities and an accessible bathroom made the room practical.

Things to Note

  • The beach is public, pebbled and separate from the hotel.
  • Rooms and transport can sell out early during the Monaco Grand Prix and Monaco Yacht Show.
  • The pool is seasonal rather than year round.
  • Dining arrangements will be temporary from 24 October 2026 until the announced January 2027 reopening.
  • One pet is permitted per room. Marriott currently lists a €50 non refundable fee per stay.

Practical Tips

  • Request a marina or sea facing balcony if the view is important.
  • Reserve parking in advance when travelling during a major Monaco event.
  • Ask reception for the Monaco shuttle schedule as soon as you arrive.
  • Wear suitable shoes for the stone beach and coastal path.
  • Compare this stay with the nearby Le MĂ©ridien Beach Plaza Monaco review.
  • For a broader Riviera day trip, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild guide is also useful.

Quick Booking Checklist

  1. Choose a marina or sea facing room if the balcony view matters.
  2. Check the seasonal pool dates for your stay.
  3. Confirm the restaurant location during the 2026 renovation.
  4. Reserve parking and request the Monaco shuttle in advance.
  5. Review your rate for breakfast and Marriott Bonvoy benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Breakfast depends on the room rate and Marriott Bonvoy benefits attached to the reservation. Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador benefits can vary by brand and property, so confirm the welcome choice at check in.

Is the hotel in Monaco?

The Brief Review Verdict

Riviera Marriott Hotel La Porte de Monaco is best for travellers who value a marina view, a balcony and convenient access to Monaco without staying in its busiest centre. The original room was comfortable and the balcony was memorable. The seasonal pool and coastal path add useful leisure options. Guests should plan around the public beach, event demand and the restaurant renovation.
