VERO Gelateria is a modern artisan gelato shop with several locations across Milan. We visited in September while exploring the city and stopped in for a cone to see how it compared with some of Milan’s other well known gelaterias.
The first impression is that VERO takes gelato seriously without making the experience feel overly formal. The shop is modern, the flavors are presented cleanly, and the focus is firmly on the gelato itself.
What stood out most during our visit was the texture. The gelato was dense, smooth, and creamy, with enough richness to feel indulgent without becoming too heavy.

What Is VERO Gelateria?
VERO describes itself as an artisan gelateria focused on natural ingredients, seasonality, and authentic flavor. The company says it has more than ten years of experience making gelato and uses fresh seasonal ingredients rather than relying on industrial semi finished preparations.
The Milan locations combine traditional Italian gelato with a more contemporary presentation. The menu mixes familiar flavors with combinations that are a little more distinctive.
Current flavors listed by VERO include stracciatella, fior di latte, salted caramel, egg cream, licorice, mint and basil, and several fruit based options. Some flavors rotate or disappear temporarily when ingredients are not in season.
Our Experience at VERO Gelateria Milan
We visited VERO in September and ordered a cone with two flavors. The portion was generous enough for a proper dessert without feeling excessive.
The gelato had the texture we look for from a good Italian gelateria. It was creamy and smooth, but not soft to the point of melting immediately. Each scoop held its shape while still having that dense, almost silky consistency that separates proper gelato from standard ice cream.
The flavors also tasted clean rather than overly sweet. That balance matters. Good gelato should allow the main ingredient to come through rather than simply tasting of sugar.
VERO Gelateria Milan Review: Highlights
- Creamy Texture: The gelato had a dense and smooth consistency that felt properly Italian rather than overly airy.
- Good Flavor Balance: The sweetness did not overwhelm the actual flavors.
- Interesting Selection: Alongside classics, VERO offers combinations such as mint and basil and other seasonal creations.
- Several Milan Locations: Having three locations makes it relatively easy to include VERO during a city visit.
- Modern Presentation: The shops have a cleaner and more contemporary feel than many traditional gelaterias.
- Seasonal Approach: Some flavors rotate according to ingredient availability rather than remaining on the menu all year.
VERO Gelateria Flavors
One of the strengths of VERO is that the menu is broad enough to satisfy traditional gelato fans without feeling predictable.
The current official menu includes familiar options such as stracciatella, fior di latte, vanilla, salted caramel, and egg cream. More distinctive choices include mint and basil, licorice, and ricotta based flavors.
Fruit and sorbet options change with the season. VERO explicitly notes that some flavors take a natural pause when the relevant ingredients are no longer in season.
That is a good sign. Gelato shops with dozens of identical flavors available every month of the year can sometimes feel more industrial. A smaller amount of seasonality gives the menu more character.
Texture and Taste
Texture is where VERO made the strongest impression on our visit.
The scoops were creamy and cohesive rather than icy. They also had enough structure to work well in a cone, which is important when walking around Milan.
The flavor itself felt fairly restrained in terms of sweetness. We prefer that approach because it lets milk, nuts, chocolate, fruit, or whatever ingredient is being used remain recognizable.
VERO is not trying to turn every flavor into a dessert overloaded with toppings. The gelato remains the main event.
VERO Gelateria Milan Locations
VERO currently lists three locations in Milan:
- Corso Garibaldi 60: Convenient for Brera, Moscova, and Parco Sempione.
- Corso Garibaldi 55: Another central option on the same popular pedestrian route.
- Corso di Porta Ticinese 51/B: Useful when exploring the Navigli, Colonne di San Lorenzo, and Porta Ticinese areas.
This makes VERO easy to fit into a day of sightseeing. You do not necessarily need to plan an entire trip around the gelateria.
Atmosphere
VERO has a more polished visual identity than an old school neighborhood gelateria.
The brand describes its shops as spaces where traditional gelato culture meets modern design and sustainability. That comes through in the presentation.
For us, the atmosphere mattered less than the gelato, but it does make the stop pleasant. Everything feels organized, clean, and deliberate.
Value for Money
Gelato in central Milan is generally not an expensive indulgence compared with a restaurant dessert, but prices can vary considerably between shops.
VERO sits comfortably in the artisan gelato category. The value is strongest if you choose two complementary flavors and focus on the quality rather than simply ordering the largest size available.
For us, the texture and overall quality justified making the stop.

Who Is VERO Gelateria Milan Best For?
VERO is a good fit for anyone who takes gelato seriously but still wants a convenient stop in central Milan.
It works especially well for couples, solo travelers, families, and visitors walking through Brera or Porta Ticinese.
It is also worth considering if you prefer creamy, ingredient focused gelato rather than highly decorated ice cream loaded with toppings.
Those specifically looking for an historic Milan institution may prefer somewhere such as Gelateria Umberto. VERO feels newer and more contemporary.
VERO Gelateria Milan Review: Tips

- Ask What Is Seasonal: Some of the most interesting choices may not appear year round.
- Choose Contrasting Flavors: Pair something creamy with fruit or something nut based with a lighter flavor.

The Brief Review Verdict

VERO Gelateria was a worthwhile stop during our September visit to Milan.
The biggest strength was the gelato itself. The texture was dense and creamy, the sweetness felt controlled, and the two flavor cone was exactly the kind of simple Italian dessert we wanted while walking around the city.
The multiple Milan locations also make VERO easier to recommend. You do not need to cross the entire city to try it, and the seasonal menu gives you a reason to return.
If you are building a list of gelaterias to try in Milan, VERO deserves a place on it.
