Shanghai Me Dubai Review | DIFC Business Lunch

Updated September 2026

Shanghai Me brings polished Pan Asian dining and striking 1930s inspired design to Dubai International Financial Centre. Our original business lunch delivered three well executed courses at a competitive price. The format remains, although the price and weekly dishes have changed.

The Business Lunch

During our visit, the AED 120 set included a soup, an appetiser and a main course. The current booking page lists an AED 130 option with those three courses. An AED 170 option adds dessert. The menu changes weekly, so the dishes described below belong to our original visit rather than the current selection.

What We Ate

I began with the vegetarian sweetcorn soup. It was a simple and comforting start. Other choices at the time included miso soup and chicken with sweetcorn.

The tomato and aubergine salad was the most distinctive course. The aubergine had a crisp texture, glossy glaze and gently sweet finish. It showed why the lunch works well for guests who want more than a routine office meal.

For the main course, I chose grilled salmon steak with teriyaki sauce. The fish made the meal feel substantial without becoming too heavy for lunch.

Setting and Atmosphere

Shanghai Me combines Chinese and Japanese influences with an Art Deco setting inspired by 1930s Shanghai. It suits client lunches, dinner and drinks. The restaurant now also promotes Bund, a late night club reached through a mirrored door and open on selected nights.

Shanghai Me Highlights

  • A useful business lunch in the centre of DIFC.
  • Pan Asian cooking with Chinese and Japanese influences.
  • Memorable design that feels more special than a standard weekday lunch venue.
  • Strong vegetarian and seafood choices during our visit.
  • Service and setting suitable for business or social meals.

Things to Note

  • The business lunch menu changes weekly and prices may change.
  • The booking page shows AED 130 and AED 170 lunch options. Confirm availability for your preferred day.
  • The restaurant is polished and premium. Evening dining will usually cost more than the set lunch.
  • Reserve ahead during busy DIFC lunch periods.

Practical Tips

  • Use the official reservation link and note any dietary requirements in advance.
  • Choose the three course option for value or add dessert if time allows.
  • Compare the area with our Arts Club Dubai review.
  • For another creative Asian meal, see our Hawkerboi review.
  • Our Daikan ramen review is a more casual alternative.

Is Shanghai Me Good Value?

The current set lunch is the clearest value choice. AED 130 for soup, an appetiser and a main course is competitive for an elevated DIFC restaurant. The AED 170 option makes sense if dessert is part of the occasion.

Before You Reserve

  1. Check the current weekly business lunch menu and price.
  2. Select the three course or dessert inclusive option.
  3. Share dietary needs when booking.
  4. Allow enough time for a relaxed three course lunch.

The Brief Review Verdict

Shanghai Me remains a strong DIFC choice when atmosphere matters as much as the food. Our sweetcorn soup, crisp aubergine salad and teriyaki salmon made a balanced lunch. The set menu is still the best entry point for first time visitors.
