Heritage Design and Atmosphere
The hotel occupies the restored Murray Terrace building. It previously operated as Six Senses Maxwell. Marriott now lists 127 rooms and suites.
Jacques Garcia designed the interiors. Deep colours, layered fabrics and vintage details create an intimate mood. The entrance is discreet, so first time visitors may pass it on Cook Street.
Service during our stay was helpful. The team explained the hotel facilities and recognised Marriott Bonvoy status at check in.
Rooms and Suites
Our club suite included a minibar, coffee and tea facilities, a desk and a small sitting area. The king bed was comfortable. Storage was cleverly arranged around the limited floor area.
The bedroom felt compact, especially when luggage was open. That is worth considering if space matters more than design. The dark palette also makes the room feel more enclosed.
The bathroom was the strongest part of the suite. It had twin basins, a marble shower and a full bathtub. Toiletries and a capable hairdryer were also provided during the stay.
Breakfast and Club Lounge
Marriott currently describes club access through Cultivate for eligible club rooms and suites. Published benefits include breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Access rules can vary by rate and status.
During our visit, breakfast was continental rather than a large buffet. Cold pressed juices were a highlight. Afternoon snacks and evening drinks were also offered in the lounge area.
Those service details reflect the original stay. Confirm present benefits before arrival, especially if lounge access affects the value of your booking.
Restaurants, Pool and Fitness
The hotel currently lists four dining venues: Cultivate, Isabel, Shikar and Polo Bar. Opening days and meal periods differ, so reservations are sensible for a specific venue.
The outdoor lap pool is narrow. It works best for one or two swimmers rather than a resort style afternoon. A fitness centre is also available.
Location and Transport
Maxwell MRT is close to the hotel. Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar and the Central Business District are easy to reach on foot.
Changi Airport is around 20 kilometres away. Marriott does not list a hotel airport shuttle. A taxi or public transport is therefore the practical choice.
