Orto Cafe Dubai Review: Canal Views and Specialty Coffee

Orto Cafe is a quiet specialty coffee spot beside the Dubai Water Canal in Jumeirah. Its calm interiors, large windows and waterside terrace make it a useful choice for coffee, brunch or a relaxed catch up.

We visited the Jumeirah branch and photographed the cafe during our visit. This review covers the setting, current menu, prices, practical details and what to know before going.

Information checked in October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours can change.

Location and Setting

Orto sits at 395 Al Athar Street in Jumeirah 2. The cafe faces the Dubai Water Canal and is near the La Plage development. This location gives it a calmer feel than many mall based coffee shops.

The view is a major part of the appeal. Floor to ceiling windows bring daylight into the main dining room. Outdoor tables let guests sit closer to the canal when the weather is comfortable.

Orto also lists branches in Al Khawaneej and at Zayed University. This review focuses only on the Jumeirah branch shown in our photographs.

Atmosphere and Design

The interior has a clean, contemporary look. Pale upholstery, dark tables, warm wood and indoor plants soften the space. Large windows keep the room bright without making it feel stark.

Several seating styles are available. There are small tables for solo visits, larger tables for groups and lounge style chairs near the windows. The layout works for a quick coffee, a quiet work session or a longer conversation.

Details such as the stone logo wall, glass block counter and curved wood panels give the cafe a clear identity. Even the restroom follows the same thoughtful design language.

Ordering Experience

Orders are placed at the counter. The display is easy to find, and the coffee equipment is visible behind it. A merchandise area nearby sells branded cups, clothing, caps and tote bags.

During busy periods, it may help to choose a table before ordering if staff permit. Guests who want the canal view should arrive earlier, especially on pleasant evenings and weekends.

Coffee and Drink Menu

Orto is known for specialty coffee made with beans from Goldbox Roastery. Current listings include espresso drinks such as flat whites and piccolos. More playful choices can include a crème brûlée latte and espresso tonic.

Matcha is another strong part of the menu. Classic, ginger and vanilla bean versions have all been listed. Seasonal drinks may also appear, so the selection can change.

Our featured photograph shows a layered iced drink served in an Orto cup. We have not added tasting claims because the original draft did not contain notes about the order.

Food and Brunch

The menu extends beyond pastries. Current coverage highlights avocado toast, stuffed croissants, eggs Benedict and a peanut butter and jam dish. Breakfast and brunch choices make Orto suitable for a fuller meal.

Availability and presentation can vary. Check the current menu or ask at the counter if you are visiting for a specific dish. Dietary requirements should also be confirmed directly with the team.

Prices and Value

Orto sits in the mid range for a design led Dubai specialty cafe. A typical visit may cost about AED 50 to AED 100 per person. The final bill depends on whether you order only drinks or add breakfast and brunch dishes.

The value is strongest when you plan to enjoy the setting. The canal view, comfortable seating and long opening hours add more than a quick takeaway counter can offer.

Prices can change. Review the current menu before travelling if budget is important.

Indoor and Outdoor Seating

The indoor room is the safer option during hot or humid weather. It still offers a clear canal outlook through the broad windows.

The terrace is more appealing during Dubai’s cooler months. Outdoor seating also suits guests who want a slower visit and an open view. Ask staff about the available tables when you arrive.
