Emirates Nice to Dubai Economy Review | A380 EK78

Emirates flight EK78 connects Nice Côte d’Azur Airport with Dubai International Airport nonstop. The route is operated by the Airbus A380, giving Economy passengers a widebody aircraft for the journey between the French Riviera and the UAE.

This review covers the complete Economy Class experience from check in at Nice through boarding, seating, entertainment, dining and arrival in Dubai. Our seat for the flight was 60A, a window seat on the main deck.

The A380 remains one of the most comfortable aircraft for this type of route. Economy is still a dense cabin, but the quiet ride, large entertainment screen and included meal help make the journey manageable.

Emirates Nice to Dubai Economy Review – Highlights

  • Nonstop Route: EK78 avoids a connection between the French Riviera and Dubai.

  • Large Entertainment Screen: The ICE system provides films, television, audio, flight information and external cameras.
  • Included Meal: Economy passengers receive a multicourse meal and drinks.

  • Pillow and Blanket: Both were waiting on the seat at boarding.

Check In at Nice Airport

Emirates used a dedicated bank of counters in Zone D during our journey. Signage separated First Class and Platinum passengers from the other check in lines. The open layout made the correct queue easy to identify.

Nice Airport is compact compared with Dubai. Even so, it is sensible to arrive early for an A380 departure. A large number of passengers need to complete bag drop, security and boarding within the same period.

Boarding the Emirates A380

The A380 was easy to see from the gate and jet bridge. Boarding was organised through the enclosed walkway, with passengers moving to the appropriate aircraft door.

The aircraft carries several hundred passengers, so the boarding process takes time. Keeping the boarding pass ready and following the announced zone helps avoid delays in the jet bridge.

Economy Cabin and Seat 60A

Economy on this A380 used the familiar 3 4 3 layout on the main deck. The cabin looked bright, with pale upholstery and turquoise seat accents. Seat 60A provided a window view and direct access to the sidewall.

The seat was acceptable rather than spacious. Shoulder room depends heavily on whether the neighbouring seats are occupied. The A380 sidewall curves away near the window, which creates a little visual space but does not replace extra legroom.

A pillow, blanket and packaged headphones were already placed on the seat. The headrest could be adjusted for support. These small additions matter on a flight of this length.

ICE Entertainment and Connectivity

The seatback screen was large and clear. A separate handheld controller sat below it, while the panel also included a USB port and universal power socket.

Emirates calls its system ICE, short for information, connectivity and entertainment. The selection included recent films, television, music, a moving map and aircraft cameras. The amount of content is one of the strongest parts of Emirates Economy.

Onboard WiFi is available, but free access depends on Skywards membership and status. Blue, Silver and Gold members can receive complimentary messaging in Economy when logged into their account. Connection quality can vary while airborne.

Meal Service

The Economy meal arrived as a full tray. It included a hot main with a creamy sauce, mixed rice and vegetables. A lentil and corn salad, bread roll, cheese, crackers and a salted toffee pudding completed the tray.

The meal was substantial for a medium distance international flight. Presentation followed the standard Emirates Economy format, with the main course served hot and the cold items packed separately.

Drinks were offered with the meal. Emirates includes soft drinks, juice, tea and coffee in Economy. Other choices may also be available depending on the flight.

Cabin Service

The crew remained visible during boarding and the meal service. With a large A380 cabin, service naturally takes longer than on a smaller aircraft. The structured trolley service kept the process orderly.

The cabin was prepared for an evening arrival, with lighting reduced after the meal. Passengers who want uninterrupted rest should keep essentials within reach before the cabin settles.

Arrival in Dubai

EK78 arrives in Dubai late in the evening or shortly after midnight, depending on the timetable. The final approach and taxi can take time because Dubai International is a large and busy airport.

Arrival at the Emirates hub is convenient for Dubai residents and connecting passengers. However, travellers should allow extra time for immigration, baggage collection and movement through the terminal.

Value and Comparison

This route is most useful for the nonstop convenience. It removes the need to connect through Paris, Frankfurt, Istanbul or another European hub.

Economy fares change significantly by date and fare family. Special is the most restrictive, while Saver, Flex and Flex Plus generally add baggage or flexibility. Seat selection charges can also vary.

The A380 helps the Economy product feel more polished. The seat is not especially wide, yet the quiet cabin, entertainment, power and included meal create a complete service.

Emirates Economy from Nice to Dubai is a strong option because it combines a nonstop route with the A380 experience. The seat is standard Economy, but the aircraft, entertainment, meal and onboard power add value.

The main drawbacks are the dense cabin and the time needed to board a very large aircraft. For travellers based on the French Riviera, the direct service remains far easier than making a European connection.
