• The Marriott hotel is located on Palm West Beach or as some people refer to it West Palm Beach Dubai. It is a beach strip on the right side of Palm Jumeirah facing Dubai Marina and Bluewater Island. The strip contains a few other hotels such as Fairmont Palm, Radisson Palm, Hilton The Palm as well as some of the best beach clubs and restaurants in Dubai. Located a short 5-10 minute walk across the street to the middle of the Palm trunk is the Nakheel Mall, a huge 4 story mall which also houses the St. Regis Palm hotel.
• The hotel is just 10-15 minute drive to anywhere else on the Palm as well as Dubai Marina or Mall of the Emirates. Likewise you are a 25 minute drive away to DIFC and Downtown Dubai. With a trip to and from the airport you are looking at 35 minutes end to end.
• The lobby of the hotel is grand and welcoming with large seating areas scattered throughout and a large glass opening towards the sea. The reception is located on the left side upon entering the hotel with a cafe along the back serving tea, coffee and cakes.
• The rooms in the hotel are spacious and well appointed with high quality fixtures throughout. Perfect for a beach hotel there is a sense of light and airiness around the property. The TVs have connectivity for YouTube and Netflix as well. See pictures below for a full visual walkthrough.
• Reusable sustainable glass bottles of water are abundant in the room which have replaced the plastic water bottles. You can request as many of these as you like and housekeeping will leave at your door or bring inside.
• The resort has a full size pool built lengthwise along the property with a built in bar in the middle as well as a shaded children’s pool and play area on the left side. The right side of the pool area has a lounge and seated bar.
• To access the beach guests need to walk down to the Palm West Beach promenade to get to the Marriott beach check in point (next to the Senor Pico Mexican restaurant) where an attendant will help you set up your sun bed with a towel and water. A cool feature is that all the attendant desks have lemon water, a selection of magazines, extra towels as well as and most importantly dispensers for sun lotion and alovera after sun creme.

• Self parking is currently only available to guests checked into the hotel with valet parking available for everyone.
• As a Marriott Resort, there is no lounge access for Marriott Bonvoy members included. However the hotel does have a gorgeous lounge on the 14th floor called M Lounge which serves breakfast, afternoon tea and snacks, as well as light bites and an open bar in the evening. There is also a grab and go section at the entrance which has chips, nuts, fruits as well as other rotating snacks to take away with you. The lounge has stunning views overlooking the marina and yachts passing by. The M Lounge is only available to paying guests that are booked in the M Lounge category rooms, suites or have chosen to pay for the access.

• Centrally located in downtown area of Doha the Marriott hotel is a stone throw away from the beach (ocean) as well as right across the street from the Doha Convention Center. The hotel situated within West Bay which is the financial and governmental hub of the city with all the ministries and main corporate offices so is an excellent business base.
• The hotel is also connected via the second floor to the Doha City Center mall. On the other end of the mall is the Rotana hotel Doha and the JW Marriott Marquis hotel Doha, which is a more upscale version of the Marriott Marquis brand. Interestingly both are given the ‘Marquis’ branding which is reserved for very select Marriott properties that are flagships usually larger, with vast f&b and banqueting offerings such as the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai (click for review).
• The hotel has a large open lobby as the hotel is spread across two towers one as the hotel side for short term stay and the other side with apartments targeted more towards longer term stay guests. The hotel side starts at the 25th floor all the way up to the 42nd floor which acts as the executive floor with lounge.
• The design and decor is very typical Marriott look and feel with the dark wood and bright carpets. The rooms in general are very well equipped, far more than standard for example the Nespresso machines with Nespresso capsules (not compatible ones), as well as TWG tea bags and the bathroom amenities include branded Thann products. In general the rooms both the superior room and the junior suite are very spacious.
• On the 7th floor there is a large Saray spa, large outdoor lap pool with shaded loungers (as soon as you sit down you are greeted with cold water bottles) and a huge gym. There is gym equipment I have never seen before they have a very expansive range which is well suited to a property of this size.
• The food and beverage options at the hotel really stand out. The property has all the classic Marriott branded outlets like Champions bar, NY Steakhouse and Cucina. The breakfast at the hotel is phenomenal, way above standard and has a large a la carte menu to order from such as brisket poached eggs and Indian dosas complimented with a large assisted buffet with chia pudding, yogurts, slice fruit, home made pastries and more. Review of Marriott Marquis Doha – Things to Note

• As of July 2021 the lounge at the hotel is closed on the 42nd floor however the hotel has made alternative arrangements in the Crossroads restaurant on the 3rd floor. From 2-4pm coffee and tea are serve with no light snacks but a selection of whole fruit such as banana or apple. From 5-8pm the executive lounge offers a full table service dinner with alcoholic beverages. The service starts with a soup, salad and light bite, which changes daily and then you have a choice of three main courses with one vegetarian option, again rotating daily. This is followed with either a cheese plate or dessert. Likewise breakfast is also included with lounge access in the same Crossroads restaurant. The food here exceeds traditional standards and is almost equivalent to having half board option.
• While the breakfast at the hotel is excellent, it can get very busy and due to most of the main courses being prepared as a la carte options (which is much better from a quality point of view) this takes much longer to prepare so sometimes you can wait up to 30 minutes to receive your order.

• The third Element hotel in Dubai (see review of the other Element hotels in Dubai here) is ideally situated for anyone wanting to be close to Downtown Dubai or Bur Dubai, it is also a short drive away from the port terminal and Dubai Airport.
• Upon arrival at the hotel there is self parking in the basement. Check in (as of June 2021) is at the sister Aloft property, click here for separate review. The lobby of the Element is elegantly designed and feels more high end than the Aloft which has a younger vibe. The Element decor is understated and earthy with comfortable seating and an eco-friendly atmosphere.
• As an apartment or longer stay hotel, the Element Al Mina is an all suite property with the smallest room being studio apartments, going all the way up to 2 bedroom units. Each apartment is furnished with everything you would need turn key, so from day one you can check in and be ready go to with internet, tv, fully fitted kitchen, washing machine, ironing board – the whole nine yards! It makes the Element a perfect hotel if you are planning to stay a little longer in Dubai or want to use the hotel as a hotel to stay before you plan to commit to your own apartment in the city.
• The beds in any of the rooms are super comfortable and soft – and will provide you with a well rested sleep – and the best part of these hotel apartments it the daily housekeeping so each day the team will refresh the room, make the bed and every third day the linens are completely changed for new ones.
• Breakfast is included complimentary for all room rates at the Element hotel and is available from 7am to 11am in the lobby. The selection is more of a light continental grab and go with cereals, yogurt, whole fruits, hot beverages and juices.
• The infinity roof top pool is a great way to unwind and relax at at the hotel and provides amazing views of the Burj Khalifa and Union House flag. Review of Element Al Mina – Things to Note

• The Element Al Mina hotel is on the same property as the Aloft Al Mina, click here for review. While they have separate entrances and lobbies they share some of the same common areas such as pool, gym and basement parking. As of June 2021 (the same year as the hotel opened) guests are directed to the Aloft hotel for check in. There was also no staff in the ground floor / lobby during our stay at the hotel.
• There is not much around the hotel in terms of walking distance so you would need to take a taxi or car if you wanted leave the property and explore the rest of the city.
• In the studio kitchenette there seems to be less crockery than usual or other Element properties we have stayed in. The fridge was very small akin to a mini bar style vs a standard floor standing fridge. It is fine for short stays but if one is planning to stay longer and cook or keep fresh foods this might be a concern and reason look at a one bedroom suite instead of a studio room.

• There are plenty of benefits for Marriott Bonvoy members from upgrades, early check in, late check out, free high speed internet and more. As a Marriott elite member you can choose either 500 welcome points or a welcome amenity. If you are staying more than one night, the best value would be the free daily breakfast for two.
• The lobby has plenty of great co-working areas with power outlets to work if you need a larger open space. On the right of the lobby is their all day grab and go which double as the breakfast counter in the morning (breakfast is free and complimentary for all room rates), the area has lots of comfortable chairs and tables to work from.
• You can request any types of amenities you might need, even those not presented in your room at check in such as q-tips, disposable tooth brush or even additional small water bottles.

Review of Aloft Al Mina – Video Tour

A full video tour walk through of the one bedroom suite at the Aloft Al Mina hotel is below. The design and layout of the suite is similar to the standard room, except a suite comes with a larger bathroom and separate living room with dining table.

Review of Aloft Hotel Al Mina – Highlights

• The fourth Aloft hotel in Dubai (see review of the other properties here) is ideally situated for any tourist coming to visit the UAE, as it is just 10 minutes drive from Downtown Dubai (such as the Dubai Mall), DIFC and just 15 minutes drive to old town Dubai with gold souq and spice souq.
• Upon arrival at the hotel there is self parking in the basement. The rest of the check in process is very quick and seamless. The whole vibe is very relaxed and welcoming, it is young, cool and laid back – just how Aloft should be!
• The lobby of the hotel features all the signature Aloft elements such as a grab and go counter next to the reception, an W XYZ bar and an all day dining restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also plenty of fun additions to the lobby such as a pool table, fussball table, and seating areas with coffee table books for guests to hang out in.
• Most of the rooms are of similar style and layout with the Aloft Al Mina having some local influences seen by the choice of the fabrics in the room, pictured below. All rooms are connected with high speed internet and have large flatscreen TVs which can be easily connected to your laptop or mobile device to stream videos from Netflix, Youtube or other media applications such as Spotify.
• The bathrooms in the hotel are very modern and all feature walk in rainfall showers. They are complete with all standard toiletries.
• The breakfast offered at the hotel is self service and features a full cold cut section with an open salad bar, cereal selection, cut and whole fruits, yogurts. As well as a hot section with scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, tomatoes, and sausages followed by a pastry and bakery items such as muffins and baguettes. At the back of the breakfast set up is an egg station where the chef can create eggs to order such as omlette or pancakes. Of particular highlight was the large selection of salad dressings, made in house fresh, from balsamic vinaigrette, honey mustard, to olive oil and lemon, let guests really customize their morning salad for those looking for healthier options!
• The infinity roof top pool is a great way to unwind and relax at at the hotel and provides amazing views of the Burj Khalifa and Union House flag. • Ask for a room facing the Dubai skyline, it is worth it for the sunrise and sunset which offers full unobstructed views of the city. Likewise the union flag on the right side of the property is in full view. It is the second largest flag of the UAE in the country and is stunning to watch as it flaps with the wind.
