Review of JW Marriott Marquis Dubai – Commentary

Officially the tallest hotel in the world, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai is an icon in business bay and towers over neighboring buildings. The hotels twin towers are both used entirely as hotel rooms. The check in process during Covid was very smooth although there were additional health declarations to fill out.

We were given a deluxe room, which are generously sized as standard. Upon entering the room you have the washroom to your left and main room straight ahead. The decor is tasteful and neutral.

The bathroom is grand and the highlight of the room (as it almost takes up as much space). It is stocked with full amenities and has a detached bathtub, walk in shower and separated toilet section.

The main room features an Illy coffee machine – which as a Nespresso user is a welcome change. There are also two additional bottles of water and mini fridge and large desk.

The king size bed is positioned directly in front of the tv and lounge chairs.

Both chairs are large and comfortable. The one downside is that there is a balcony but it is locked and not accessible for guests, due to security reasons.

As Marriott bonvoy members we had access to the executive lounge in the hotel, which has amazing views over the city. The below is the high tea at the lounge. The lounge also serves happy hour with a large selection of hot and cold snacks as well as full bar.

Breakfast is served in the all day dining restaurant and as fitting for a hotel this size is massive. Amazingly even though the set up is large and spread out the quality is never compromised. The beauty with a large set up is that you have options from all around the world such as dedicated Indian sections, dedicated Asian sections and an entire dessert section with full ice cream parlor!

The hotel is quite modern in design with a full refurbishment taking place after Marriott took over management of the property. Fun fact is that the first ever Cannes Film Festival took place in this very same building!

The team running the hotel are very friendly in assisting you with whatever you need during your stay. As a JW Marriott the brand is known for exceptional service.

Something to note is that the rooftop pool, while it has impressive views, is not that large and can get very busy at times, especially during the peak of summer. Or when the famous firework shows are on display.

We stayed at a junior suite, as you can see it is dark color palettes with leather furnishings. The rooms and suites play on their cinomatic background with imagery of old movie stars or photos on the walls.

Upon entering the living room you can see a sofa and sitting area with TV. The bathroom is just to the left. Not connected to the bedroom.

The bathroom of the suite has a single sink, but is very large and has all amenities as required. A nice touch in suites at Marriott properties is the Bulgari products. Very modern sleek look and feel. Would have been more luxurious with a marble finish.

As we are gold members with JW Marriott Cannes and returning guests we were given a very nice welcoming gift of juices and local French macaroons.
