The resort is located in Ungasan which is part of Uluwatu, the southern most part of Bali. The Four Points hotel, previously Golden Tulip Uluwatu is just a 30-40 minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) airport depending on traffic. The price of this hotel is a key highlight, as it is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program at approx 40-60 USD per night or 6-7.500 points, it is fantastic value for money.
Upon arriving at the hotel, you are greeted by a large open air lobby, with a rock and waterfall feature. The landing when you arrive at the hotel is simply for check in, reception and concierge. The rest of the property is spread over multiple levels, with the main common areas on a level above the lobby – featuring the swimming pool, all day dining restaurant, bar, gym, spa and conference rooms.
The rooms in the Four Points Ungasan are large and recently refreshed. The rooms come with all the standard amenities as well as complimentary water.
Breakfast is at the all day dining restaurant Evolution and covers the basics continental plus hot section as well as an egg station, and is very generous for the price.
The hotel acts as a fantastic base for your stay in Uluwatu, located in the central part of the peninsula with awesome views (if your room is located on a high enough floor). You can take advantage of the amazing beaches, spas, gyms, restaurants and bars that make up the area.

Four Points Bali Uluwatu Review – Things to Note

The hotel is spread over multiple levels, so to get out of the property, depending on your floor you will need to take up to 2 separate elevators.
The hotel is located in Uluwatu, so going to and from the main part of the island, can take time, as there is just a single road going into and out of Uluwatu. Depending on the traffic, one can expect a 30 minute car ride to get out of the peninsula.
Grab and Gojek are not welcomed in Uluwatu with plenty of signs telling them they are banned in this part of the island. However during our stay we had no trouble using Grab to get bikes or cars.

There are plenty of benefits for Marriott Bonvoy members from upgrades, early check in, late check out, free high speed internet and more. As a Marriott elite member you can choose either 1,000 welcome points, daily breakfast or a welcome amenity. If you are staying more than one night, the best value would be the free daily breakfast for two.
Download Grab or Gojek app to book and hire bikes and cars to get around easily.
Famous beach clubs are within 15-25 minutes from the hotel depending on traffic such as Ulu Beach Club, Sundays Beach Club and Single Finn. They typically open around mid day and close at 10pm, with the exception of some days where they stay open till late for parties once or twice a week.

Review of Renaissance Uluwatu – Highlights

The resort is located in Uluwatu, which is the southern part of the island, home to the most beautiful white sand beaches and stunning landscape. The hotel is a 30-40 minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) airport depending on traffic.
Upon arrival at the hotel you are welcomed by a large open air lobby with a stunning view over the peninsula. There is a lobby bar, concierge, buggy service, small store and travel agency on the lobby level as well.
There are two large pools at the hotel, both overlooking the ocean and cliffs. Along with a gym and full service spa.
While the hotel is not located directly on the beach, perched on top of the hills in Uluwatu, they operate their own beach club called Roosterfish. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to and from the beach club during the day. The beach club Roosterfish offers a full restaurant as well as private pool with loungers and direct access to a gorgeous pristine white sand beach.
There a quite a few suites at the hotel and they are stunning. Very large and generous in terms of layout, with large seating areas, a full wet bar as well as a very large walk in bathroom and shower area.
The suite is also full of all connectivity and charging ports you require as well as has all standard amenities, including complimentary water, which is restocked on request.
The resort also has its own pottery studio in house which is located next to their all day dining restaurant Clay. This is a great experience for all guests to take home a souvenir from their travels to make their own bowl or mug.
Speaking of the restaurant, the breakfast is fantastic, large selection covering Indian and Asian as well as the standard Western American offerings. All excellent quality and cooked on demand based on your preference. Highlights are the iced coffees as well as their pastry section which is bountiful and very creative, as well as the fresh juice station.

Review of Renaissance Uluwatu – Things to Note

The hotel is spread over many levels and the room numbers do not necessary denote what floor you are staying on, so it can be a challenge to orient yourself at first. For example to get to our suite, we had to take 4 separate elevators from the lobby to reach the room. You could of course also take a buggy which drops you off directly near your room and takes just 5 minute.
This is more of a leisure property so the rooms and suites are not fully geared towards working professionals.

Review of Aloft Bali Seminyak – Highlights

The tiny 80 room Aloft Seminyak is just 3 floors and located just 5 minutes walk to the beach in Seminyak right across the street from Canggu for easy access to most neighborhoods in the area by bike or car. The hotel is easily identified by the large Aloft sign outside and it is on the corner of the street.
The lobby is simple but covers all the bases, there is a bar, lounge, pool table as well as always friendly 24/7 reception and concierge desk active. The rooms are spread over the 2nd and 3rd floors with the roof top housing the hotels infinity rooftop pool, all day dining restaurant and gym (with state of the art equipment).
The rooms are modern and high tech with all the plugs (USB and multi adapter) you would need as well as sufficient storage spaces spread throughout the room. The key highlight is the large super comfortable king size bed as well as the cushioned headboard.
The bathrooms are likewise well appointed with all the standard amenities as well daily complimentary bottled water to brush your teeth with. There is a full walk in shower with shampoo and body wash built in.
The breakfast at the hotel is great quality for Aloft standard and the team is always there to assist with drink or egg orders. The selection rotates on a daily basis with a special shout out to the pastry section.

Review of Aloft Hotel Seminyak – Things to Note

Depending on the night, there can be live musicians with loud music at the roof top bar / restaurant, which can be heard at the rooms on the 3rd floor. Likewise noise from the road can be heard, assuming even more so from rooms on the 2nd floor.
