Maison Margaux is a French brasserie, brunch spot, coffee stop, and cocktail bar in central Nice. Located at 2 Place Magenta, just off the main city center flow near Place Masséna, it is the kind of restaurant that works at almost any time of day.

You can come in the morning for coffee and pastries, stop for brunch on Sunday, have lunch on the terrace, take a late afternoon coffee break, or return in the evening for dinner and cocktails. That flexibility is the main appeal.

Nice has no shortage of cafes and terraces, but Maison Margaux stands out because it combines several uses in one place. It is not only a breakfast cafe, and it is not only a dinner brasserie. It is more of an all day city restaurant with a soft, polished, Parisian style feel.

Terrace Atmosphere: Sitting outside on Place Magenta gives the restaurant a proper Nice city feel.

Review of Maison Margaux Brasserie Nice – Things to Note

It Is Central: The location is convenient, but that also means it can feel more visitor friendly than hidden local.

Reviews Are Mixed: Online feedback is not perfect, so expectations should be realistic.

Best for Convenience: The biggest strength is the all day format, location, terrace, and range.

Sunday Brunch Can Be Busy: If you want brunch, go earlier or consider booking.

Continuous Service Is Useful: This is a good option when other restaurants are between lunch and dinner service.

Terrace Timing Matters: The experience is better when the weather is good and the terrace has space.

Review of Maison Margaux Cafe Nice – Tips

Go for Breakfast or Coffee: These are easy ways to enjoy the space without committing to a full meal.

Use It for Sunday Brunch: The brunch window is long, but peak times may be busy.

Sit Outside If Possible: The terrace is one of the main reasons to visit.

Keep the Order Classic: Brasserie dishes, eggs, pastries, coffee, and cocktails fit the concept best.

Check the Menu Before Going: The restaurant covers many categories, so it helps to know what you want.

Pair It With a Nice Walk: Maison Margaux works well before or after Place Masséna, the Old Town, the Promenade, or shopping nearby.

Maison Margaux works because it is flexible. It can be a breakfast stop, a brunch spot, a lunch terrace, a coffee break, a dinner option, or a cocktail stop in central Nice.

The strongest parts are the location, terrace, all day service, and wide menu. It is especially useful for travelers who want something easy near Place Masséna without needing to plan around strict meal times.

It may not be the most unique restaurant in Nice, and reviews are mixed enough that expectations should stay grounded. But for a central brasserie with breakfast, brunch, coffee, cocktails, and continuous service, Maison Margaux is a useful address to know.

The Brief Review Verdict

Le Relais de Venise Monaco succeeds by doing one thing consistently well. The walnut salad, steak, crisp fries, and house sauce create a complete meal without unnecessary choices.

The €37 price is reasonable for Monaco, especially with the second serving. However, the fixed format will not suit vegetarians or diners seeking a broad menu.

The Brief Review Rating: 8.6/10.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte is a Paris institution built around one fixed formula: walnut salad followed by sirloin steak, its closely guarded sauce and homemade fries. There is no long main course menu to navigate. The appeal is the ritual, brisk service and lively dining room.

Four Paris dining rooms: The official site lists Rue Marbeuf, Boulevard Montparnasse, Rue Saint Benoît and Marché Saint Honoré. Each follows the same concise formula. Choose the branch that best fits your plans rather than crossing the city for a particular room.

Ordering is simple: Staff ask how you would like the steak cooked, then take drink orders. Desserts are available separately. If you are unsure about the French terms, state your preferred level of doneness clearly.

The opening course: A green salad with walnuts and mustard dressing arrives first. It is fresh and sharp enough to balance the richer steak and sauce that follow.

The main course: Sirloin steak comes with the restaurant’s secret herb sauce and homemade fries. Service is split into two portions. The second stays warm before staff return to plate it, which keeps the meal moving without rushing the food.

Dessert: The dessert list is broader than the main course choice. Ice cream with whipped cream and profiteroles suit diners who want to finish with something classic and indulgent.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte Paris Review: Things to Know

Queues are part of the experience and reservations are not normally offered. Arrive shortly before a service begins if waiting outside would affect your plans.

The €26.50 formula shown in our original review was the price at the time of that visit. The official website does not currently publish a price, so check at the restaurant before ordering. Drinks and desserts cost extra.

The fixed menu limits flexibility. This is not the best choice for anyone who does not eat beef, walnuts or the components of the house sauce.

Browse our food reviews for more places to eat.

Before You Go

Choose the Paris branch that best fits the rest of your itinerary.

Arrive close to opening time if you want to reduce the likely queue.

Confirm dietary restrictions before joining the line because the formula is fixed.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte Paris Review: FAQ

Can you reserve a table?

The Paris restaurants generally work on a walk in basis. Queue times change with the day and location, so arriving near opening is the safest approach.

What is included in the formula?

The official formula includes walnut salad, sirloin steak with secret sauce and homemade fries. Steak is served in two portions.

Is it suitable for vegetarians?

The fixed main course centres on beef. Diners with dietary restrictions should contact the restaurant before visiting.

The Brief Review Verdict

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte remains popular because it does one thing with confidence. The salad is crisp, the sauce gives the steak its identity, and the second serving keeps the experience generous. It is best for diners happy to accept a queue and a fixed menu.

Updated September 2026: La Serre has moved from Vida Downtown to City Walk. Current contact details, hours and pricing are included below.

La Serre built its reputation around a Parisian style boulangerie downstairs and a more formal restaurant upstairs. Our original visit took place at Vida Downtown. Breakfast was the strongest reason to go, especially the eggs Benedict with wagyu beef.

The setting has changed, but the concept still centres on French bread, pastries and all day dining. The current La Serre is in the licensed district at City Walk 2.

La Serre Dubai review

At the original Downtown restaurant, the ground floor boulangerie felt relaxed and easy. The upper floor offered a more formal dining experience. That split made La Serre useful for several occasions, from a quick coffee to a longer meal.

Our favourite dish was the wagyu eggs Benedict. Other versions included spinach and salmon. The restaurant was popular with Downtown residents and became especially busy on weekends.

What we liked

Strong breakfast identity: La Serre worked best as a polished morning destination.

French bakery focus: Bread and pastries gave the concept a clear point of difference.

Flexible setting: It could suit coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Memorable eggs Benedict: The wagyu version was the standout from our visit.

Neighbourhood appeal: The old location attracted both hotel guests and local residents.

Current location and hours

Address: La Serre, City Walk 2, C2 Licensed District, Dubai, UAE.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday and Sunday, 8 am to 12 midnight. Thursday to Saturday, 8 am to 2 am.

Telephone: 04 320 2201 or 052 377 3100.

Email: reservations@alpauae.com.

Website: Official La Serre City Walk website.

The old Vida Hotel Downtown address and telephone number in this article were no longer current. Anyone returning after an earlier visit should plan for City Walk rather than Downtown.

Breakfast and current value

The official site still highlights warm croissants, pain au chocolat, bread and breakfast dishes. It also lists a breakfast sharing menu at AED 155 per person. That gives a useful price reference, although individual dishes can change.

La Serre now operates from morning into late evening. The venue moves from bakery and cafe energy during the day to a more polished restaurant atmosphere at night.

Things to note

This review reflects a real visit to the former Vida Downtown venue.

The current City Walk restaurant is a new setting, so ambience and service may differ.

Weekend breakfast can be busy. A reservation is sensible for a group.

The official breakfast sharing menu costs AED 155 per person.

Check the current menu before visiting for a specific dish.

Practical tips

Visit early for the clearest bakery atmosphere.

Ask about daily pastries and any specials before ordering.

Book ahead for a weekend breakfast or evening table.

Use the City Walk 2 licensed district as your map destination.

Frequently asked questions

Is La Serre still at Vida Downtown?

No. The current official location is City Walk 2 in the C2 Licensed District.

Does La Serre serve breakfast?

Yes. The official site promotes pastries, bread and breakfast dishes from 8 am.

How much is breakfast at La Serre?

The breakfast sharing menu is currently listed at AED 155 per person. Individual menu prices may change.

Do you need a reservation?

A booking is wise for weekend breakfast, groups and evening visits. Walk in availability can vary.

The Brief Review verdict

La Serre was one of Downtown Dubai’s more polished breakfast options, and the wagyu eggs Benedict left the strongest impression. The move to City Walk changes the practical details, but the French bakery identity remains. Visit for breakfast or pastries, and confirm the latest menu if you want a specific favourite from the old location.
