The hotel is located just 15 minutes from the airport and around the same time to reach Dubai mall, DIFC, City Walk or Trade Center. The hotel is opposite the Versace Hotel which is across the street and near to the Residence Inn by Marriott and Element Hotel Al Jadaf.
The property is on the smaller side with just 160 rooms and suites but features a smart stylish design. Upon entering the hotel you are greeted with two reception desks on the left and a grab and go coffee concept on the right with plenty of lounge seating areas. The coffee bar is branded MoMo 2 Go which is the express version of their all day dining restaurant MoMo Bistro on the 1st floor.
The breakfast at this hotel stands out in the gorgeously designed restaurant. The style of MoMo Bistro which houses the all day dining has a bar to the left and serves buffets on the right with live cooking stations. The variety changes daily such as different pastries, salads and hot selections with some main core items. For a Courtyard Marriott and comparing to standard offering in the United States or Europe this exceeds expectations.
On the 11th floor is a small but purpose built gym with excellent views over the creek and highway, including both mens and women changing rooms and washrooms. There is also a spa managed by Eleven Wellness which has offers for hotel guests. This floor also has guest rooms, however ideally would prefer a room on the 9th or 10th floor.
One floor above is the roof top pool. In keeping with the boutique element of the hotel, there are just 10 sun beds, a small pool, jaccuzzi, out door shower. Even though the space is small they manage to make incredible use of the space – there is a full bar with three bar stools and the sun beds have built in sun shades. The entire space is fantastically designed.
The rooms are sleek and modern with three configurations for the standard rooms in twin, queen and king size formats. The rooms feature all the standard amenities as well as a full working desk, seating area, closets, and minibar (which is empty).

The layout of the bathroom can be slightly awkward as the door opens into it so there is not much space left inside when you do so. Likewise there is a glass partition between the bathroom and the bedroom, however you can toggle the glass to fog up to cover it with the switch of a button.

As a Marriott elite member you can choose either 500 welcome points, a welcome amenity or daily breakfast. If you are staying more than one night, the best value would be the free daily breakfast for two.
Shuttle to festival city mall, metro, dubai mall, and la mer beach leaves 3 times a day from the hotel. It is complimentary for hotel guests. This is a great benefit as other properties around do not offer this service as standard.

Review of Courtyard by Marriott Al Barsha – Highlights

The location: one of the best aspects of the Courtyard hotel is the location. Just steps away from the Mall of the Emirates (and Sheraton) makes it an excellent base for your stay in Dubai. The hotel is also just a 10-15 minute drive to Dubai Marina or Palm Jumeirah and likewise a 20-25 minute drive to Downtown Dubai or DIFC. The hotel also has its own basement parking which is self service.
The design: one of the stand out features is the modern and clean design of the hotel. From the stunning lobby to the corridors in the hotel, the fit out and finishings of the hotel are top notch. This extends into the rooms which are given modern, clean, crisp wood design. Let’s see how the carpet lasts as it very light in color! See the pictures below.
The layout: of the rooms are very spacious, even the standard rooms have lounge chairs, coffee tables and a long work desk – perfect to work from home. There are also large closets providing ample storage for those staying a little longer.
The amenities: in the room consist of a coffee and tea machine with a variety of pods and flavors as well as unlimited complimentary water (just call down to housekeeping to request more if needed). The shower and bathroom amenities are environmental, using reusable bottles attached to the wall – which is best considering how much plastic is wasted from the small disposable containers!
The gym: features a large array of Life Fitness brand equipment given the size of the property. New and excellent set up provide for a cool and invigorating work out!

The food: leaves much to be desired. The hotel has one all day dining restaurant on the ground floor as as well as a small lobby cafe (mostly serving coffee and tea). There is also a bar lounge on the roof top (but was closed during our stay). The breakfast (set up pictures below) is simple and completely self service. Would have preferred a smaller set up with more high quality ingredients and options instead of ready made.
The service: since this is a limited service hotel the team does cope well, however, there are times when due to high capacity at the hotel there is slow attendance or actions taken.
